Hilde

a week ago i came across a dog while i was in the field at work. (and when i say field i mean big field in the middle of nowhere. but she was nearby the road) my coworker and i drove around to neighboring houses to see who she belonged to but no one could place her. i told the people i spoke with that we would take her to animal control in case anyone came looking for her. no one called in the week that she was kept at animal control so csaba and i adopted her. her name is Hilde (like hildy from Hilda)- my coworker named her since she is german shepherd and we found her on a road with a german name. she has been worked with since we found out she is house trained and sits well. the vet appointment went well and the vet said we have ourselves a good one. she's probably not going to get real big, the vet thinks she's either pure shepherd or shepherd/blue heeler mix. csaba and i agree with the blue heeler mix since she has the proper placement of the ears and eyes and smaller face. she is constantly biting at huck's legs to herd him where she wants him to go. it was a rough start with introducing them but they're getting along better and playing really well. they're stil trying to work out that dominance issue (as you can see in the last photo) but we've just tried to let them work it out on their own but are encouraging huck since he's male and older (and i think that's how it works with dogs). we've been greeting him at the door first, letting him out the door before her, feeding and treating him first and who knows, maybe she'll get the hint. she does really well with zsolt but they seem to be kind of indifferent to each other. her coat is beautiful- thick and shiny and she's a good watch dog. now if only she wasn't an escape artist we wouldn't have to worry about keeping her in the kennel while we're at work...

here she is hording huck's toys...

being bribed to sit pretty for a treat...

there's my big, slobbery baby...

huck in rare form. it looks worse than it was. they don't even growl. they just wrestle. they will both grab a toy and huck will drag her around the house with it. his 95lbs to her 28. she will nip him on the feet. it looks like here huck has the upper hand, but he really doesn't when it comes to neck biting and body pinning. she has been beating him out.

Why am I just now reading about this? You should have called or emailed to tell me about the new puppy! How exciting. Olivia will want to come up again soon to meet her.
