Update
Zsolt is... almost...27 months old? ok, i don't count anymore. he's two years and almost three months old, that's 27 right? right now he can tell you most of the alphabet by looking at letters. in no order- csaba didn't teach him in order- so we know he's recognizing the actual letters, not just memorization. sometimes he associates a word with a letter as well. like snake for s. he can play on his elmo fishing pole video game rather well. it teaches him the alphabet by asking him to fish for the correct letter when it pops up on the screen. he has two buttons to properly control, i think that getting midway thru the game is such an accomplishment for a two year old. (he usually gets bored with it about that time and throws it on the floor) i tried to teach him how to dial 9-1-1 in case mommy or daddy got hurt. (which he associates with falling down the stairs) but he still thinks he's right when he says '9-9-1' very teasingly. part of me thinks he's just pulling my leg and he really knows. at least we know if there was an accident, he would be able to feed himself. he frequently goes to the fridge to get his own yogurt. he's started dressing himself in the morning, trying to put on his own socks and shoes. this morning he got his pants on by himself, but put his boots on the wrong feet. we congratulated him anyway. he likes to help cook dinner, and last night he thanked me after our meal for 'helping with dinner.' his newest tantrum starter is wanting to sit in the car in the garage when we get home. he refuses to come inside even after 15 minutes of being out there by himself. i'll check up on him to make sure he's safe and hasn't learned to unbuckle his carseat. so far we've been lucky. he seems to have a good memory, he still remembers people and things from this summer- just last night he mentioned tari and he hasn't seen her since july. he also remembers seeing the giraffes at the zoo in June because whenever we mention giraffe, he will stick out his tongue. he still gets out of bed numerous times a night but the new bed seems to fit him well and as soon as i can teach huck to growl when zsolt steps foot on the floor, everything may change. he is learning about feelings and taking care of another by playing with his baby doll every day. betsy got him a doctor kit and he continuously gives the baby shots to make her all better. he's a real music man. we have to watch Dan Zanes http://www.danzanes.com/pages/news.php no less than two times a day. he will strap on his mini acoustic guitar and stick his harmonica in his mouth and play along with dan. i want to get him started in music lessons as soon as he's ready. which i have a feeling will be in just a few short years. he regulary throws full on fits with tears and hitting, kicking and screaming. time-outs work but only if he's in there long enough to forget what he was doing in the first place. he has already started slamming the door and locking himself in his bedroom, where i am NOT allowed to come in. it's fun to make him mad by sneaking in when he isn't looking. his speech has increased dramatically and often csaba and i ask for just 5 minutes of quiet time. he can hold a conversation with you, but still thinks the phone has a video camera on it. i'll try to post some new photos soon, if he'll sit still for me...
