18 Month blog
So this is a little different, because this time daddy is writing your blog. You can also tell this by the fact that it's almost a month late. Well, you're 18 month old and you've grown a lot in the last month. It is most noticeable in your speaking ability. Yes, I said speaking. You are very clearly saying "bye", even when no one is going anywhere; "mine" which you say to everything; "hot dog" which has become even clearer since the last month and you actually identify a real hot dog as a hot dog, not just anything that's hot; you've mastered "uh oh" and "uh uh" and use them judiciously. Your motor skills have gotten much better, you're climbing the couch and chairs like it was a jungle jim. You're also lightning fast on your feet when you want to be, though it seems to impair your ability to control where it is that you're going. Like the other day when you got scared of the thunder and instead of turning into the bedroom you kept going straight... into the wall.
You took a liking to the wading pool at daycare, which is good because mommy and daddy don't like going to the real pool. We did however take you to the zoo where you had tons of fun, even though you only smiled 3 times the entire trip. One was with the giraffes where you got to feed them, and they left a lasting impression on you because even days later, when we asked you about the giraffes you'd stick your tongue waaaay out just like you saw the giraffes do. The biggest smile came though when mommy picked out a stuffed tiger for you. You were inseparable for the remainder of the trip, and for that matter the rest of the weekend. When we asked what you wanted to name him, you pointed at his whiskers, which we took to mean you wanted to name him Whiskers, so we did. In fact you are so friendly with Whiskers, that one night when we asked you to show him your toys, you sat down, pulled out toys from your box and explained to Whiskers exactly what they were.
Luckily you've started going to bed a lot easier. I can now put you down, say goodnight and you fall asleep on your own, without needing me in the room or even in any kind of visual contact. I wish you slept longer in the mornings, or even just slept in your bed all night. (That's my fault for introducing you to our nice comfy bed) Your eating has slowed down, you eat like a bird in the evenings, though I'm told you like the food at daycare so I guess it all evens out.
I'm trying to show you as many things as I can, so that you can take all this with you as you grow up. Most things you won't remember yet, but I think it's never too early to start... Which is why in august we're going to see a bunch of burly, bearded men in skirts... sorry kilts. I hate to end it on a sappy note, but I don't know if I tell you enough how much I love you. I hope you know this and will remember this... and will change my diaper when I'm old and Mommy refuses to do it.
